Mike Stephens is a leading information technology law partner in the Vancouver office of Fasken (formerly Fasken Martineau LLP). A recognized leader in the British Columbia technology ecosystem, Mike represents companies in all stages of their development, with a particular focus on early-stage entrepreneurs, start-ups, and emerging growth companies.

An experienced M&A and securities lawyer, Mike counsels emerging growth companies from their foundation all the way to IPO or an exit event. Mike also advises founders, executives, and company boards on corporate issues, business strategy, fundraising and board governance, and strategic transactions.

Prior to joining the firm, Mike was a partner and Vancouver office Lead of the Venture Technology/Emerging Growth Companies group of an international law firm.

Thomas Linder has broad experience in advising Swiss and foreign companies in international tax matters. He is particularly specialized in leading inter-disciplinary projects in the context of acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and migrations and has in-depth knowledge of cross-border transactions and tax accounting. At present, he mainly provides assistance to companies in the technology sector, with a focus on blockchain technology and international projects.

Thomas maintains a strong personal national and international network of consultants, enterprises and administrations which, in combination with his comprehensive technical skills, allows him to develop creative, tailor-made, efficient tax-structuring solutions. He regularly publishes and lectures on current tax topics and has the co-authored several textbooks.

In addition to being a member of the Tax Chapter of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce, Thomas participates in working groups with regard to the current Swiss Corporate Tax Reform III and, in this context, actively postulates the introduction of R&D incentives in Switzerland.

Currently, Jordan is president and founder of Woolf Strategic and sits as an Advisory Board member of several B.C.-based tech companies to apply modern business strategies, technology, and marketing expertise—helping entrepreneurs plan, build, envision and ultimately launch innovative businesses, products, and platforms. Jordan brings a wealth of strategy experience, working to formulate ideas and concepts into strong business models aimed at attracting investors that are seeking innovative venture opportunities.

He graduated from UBC with his Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on marketing, strategy, and economics, and obtained a Fine Arts diploma from Okanagan College with a focus in Graphic Design.

Jim is the owner and founder of Whiteboard Law, a boutique business law firm that specializes in mergers and acquisitions and venture capital financing, with a focus on emerging technology companies. He formerly served three years as president of the Premier’s Technology Council, where he advised Premier Christy Clark on current and future-facing technology-related issues facing British Columbians.

In 2017, Jim was recognized in Martindale-Hubbell as one of Canada’s top business lawyers, receiving a BV Peer Review rating. During his time at Fasken Martineau, Jim was influential in establishing and running one of Vancouver’s largest corporate technology law practices.

He is a co-founder of AppNeta, a network intelligence software company that has since relocated to Boston, Massachusetts. Additionally, he has sat on the Board of Directors for nine organizations: QHR Technologies Inc., Pacific Carbon Trust, Vecima Networks (currently trading on the TSX), AppNeta, DigiBC, Quantum Works, Focus Foundation of BC, Vancouver Enterprise Forum, and the BC Chamber of Commerce.

A highly sought-after guest speaker and lecturer, Jim has also been a guest instructor for the Professional Legal Training Course for the Law Society of British Columbia and has been a contributing author for prior editions of the BC Company Law Practice Manual.

Brittany is the founder of Exvera Communications, which specializes in PR for organizations in the innovation and technology industries. In 2017, Brittany was named to BC Business Magazine’s Top 30 Under 30.

Brittany was previously communications lead for Procurify, a SaaS software company, taking the company through multiple rounds of venture financing. During her nearly three years with the company, it grew from a small startup to a company with over 50 employees, earning seven-figure annual recurring revenue and serving customers worldwide.

In 2015, Brittany founded TEDxGastownWomen, a conference that aims to empower women and girls by providing a platform for them to share their stories and ideas. A former resident technology panelist on Roundhouse Radio, Brittany can often be seen and heard around Vancouver at numerous other speaking and emcee engagements.

Brittany completed her Bachelor of Business Administration and Marketing Management Diploma (with distinction) from Langara College. She is also a mentor and startup advisor for several initiatives and companies.
