The Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) is the consultative and advisory body of the Organization of American States (OAS) that provides a forum to discuss solutions, as well as provide technical assistance, to increase the capacity to counter the drug problem. Since being established in 1986, CICAD focuses on conducting in-depth research and evaluation, and providing specialized training for members to solve the world’s drug problem with a comprehensive, balanced and multidisciplinary approach using evidence-based drug policies.
CICAD works closely with partners such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the International Narcotics Control Board, the Pan American Health Organization, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, and the Regional Security System.
